Have you ever wondered if you contracted something with that dubious one night stand or you’re out and about and you wonder what that ‘itchy’ feeling might actually be? Well wonder no more. The U.K. Clinical Research Collaboration is developing a computer chip, reminiscent of a pregnancy test device that tests urine and saliva for potential sexually transmitted diseases all in complete privacy. The test kit will be no bigger than an USB chip and will plug into your smartphone to diagnose you within minutes after either your urination or saliva test. The doctors are using nanotechnology and microfluidics to bring about this micro-laboratory. What this new application will do is bring about a quicker diagnosis to treat the potential STD faster. You will also be able to alert your most recent sexual partners so that they may also get treatment sooner rather than later. I guess you would be able to pinpoint who exactly gave you what and when. These devices will be available in grocery stores, night clubs and anywhere else preventative contraception’s are sold. How will the dating scene change when everyone carries one, or more, of these tests.
