SCANADU: Check Your Body As Often As Your Email

Scanadu, an innovative health tech startup I daresay you’ll be hearing a lot more from in the future. It’s not the easiest of tasks explaining what the company is building at this point, but let’s call it a personal, mobile, auto-diagnostics product – they refer to it as a Medical Tricorder.

Scanadu’s first product, the ‘Medical Tricorder’, is built specifically with parents with kids in mind, and to help avoid expensive trips to hospitals based on insufficient information and/or anxiety. Scanadu is currently seeking technology partnerships with telemedicine and diagnostic technology startups, and hiring more people to join its quest to build a personal ‘pocket doctor’.

Excellent post!

Now this is applied technology doing something incredibly useful. It reminded me of all of the pilots that chuckled about all of the people who climb into a car, turn it on and zip down the road at high speed. You would think that they would at least do a quick walk around the vehicle to make sure that the tires were properly inflated and all fluid levels were at proper levels for safe vehicle operation.

Something like this device really strikes home for me. Since my disability, my life actions are determined by my current health state, every day. So I can greatly emphasize with the need of this service and I encourage others to look into it. If you are not fully capable, you are a liability to all around you. Going to work sick can leave your entire office short handed for weeks.

You only get ONE life. Do everything you can to keep yourself healthy.
I know first hand what it is like to have a significant portion of your activities curtailed in an instant and then have to work around significant physical limitations and pain/drug levels that are even more debilitating.

Take my advice, keep an eye on the progress of these types of services/devices.
