Did you pickup an element14 Drawdio kit at Maker Faire?

Howdy,

I was really excited for element14 to giveaway a DIY electronics kit for folks to solder at our Maker Faire NYC booth:

Please post in this thread with any questions or comments you may have.  How did you like the kit?  Have you do any fun mods?  I'd love to hear from everyone!

BTW, I have to give a big thanks to Adafruit Industries (http://adafruit.com/) and Jay Silver (http://drawdio.com) for designing the Drawdio.

Cheers!

Drew

Picked one up as well (I've always wanted to get one for the fun of it). I'll be soldering it up tonight!

Went great, easy build. I actually gifted it to a friend the next day because he was so amazed by it (it's really fun to mess around with).

Note that the ceramic capacitors included in the element-14 kit differ slightly from the illustrations in adafruit's instructions.

Both ceramic capacitors in the element-14 kit are yellow.  The smaller one, marked '681' and packaged on cardboard, is C1 (680pF).

The larger yellow capacitor is C3 (0.1 uF).

Also, the 300K resistor RB included with the kit is dark brown, but of course has the same colour code (Orange Black Yellow Gold) indicated in the instructions.

    Happy soldering!

How did it go?  I'd love to find out if you enjoyed it and a picture of the final product would be outstanding! image

    Hi Max,

Thanks for visiting our Maker Faire booth.  Apologies that your brother has not received his prize yet.  I've just spoken with someone in our Marketing department who will be contacting you regarding sending the prize.

    Thanks!

    Drew
