Open hardware electron microscope receives Awesome Foundation grant

Exciting news today for nano-enthusiasts, the Chicago chapter of the Awesome Foundation has awarded local maker, Sacha De'Angeli (aka chemhacker) with a $1,000 grant to continue work on his open source hardware scanning tunnelling electron (STM) microscope.

I'm very happy for Sacha.  He served as president of my hackerspace, Pumping Station: One, last year and is a great member of the maker community in Chicago.

  • I have been following his progress via his blogs and I agree, it is fantastic that his work has been recognized and rewarded.

    I especially like too see persistance pay off.  I know he has worked on this device for a while and I am amazed at what he has accomplished on his own.
