Exciting news today - CadSoft has release the EAGLE V6 Beta:
To clarify, the V6 Beta download is in fact v5.9.1.1.
The wonderful folks over at Adafruit quickly wrote a nice blog post on the V6 Beta this morning focusing on the open XML file format:

Now you might be wondering what this has to do with Open Source Hardware as this is the group I'm posting in. Well, many open source hardware projects are designed with EAGLE and the open XML file formats will make it easier to share and extend designs.
As Adafruit wrote in a comment this morning (http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2011/11/04/breaking-news-eagle-v6-beta-is-here/#comment-25030):
we celebrate all the tools here and the goal of making them open, from the formats to the tool itself.
eagle’s xml export is a good thing for anyone who likes to use eagle to make oshw (or any hw)…
