motor control and relay control using PC usb or serial port

Hello all,

 

I am fairly new to the hardware world and little good at programming. I have a very school kind of project that I want to do and I am not sure where to start.

Well, the goal is that I want to control a motor (dc/stepper/servo doesn't matter) and also a relay using PC's either USB or Serial port.

If there is already a plug and play usb/serial port motor controller that will make my job much easier and I can just start to do my programming stuff. Same with the relay as well.

Can someone please help me such products for my project.

    you can use FT232H, and Labview.

     

    It has many examples how to control pins from labview, it is very easy. Still, you will need some additional parts like buffers, fet/bjt for relay and so on.

    By using this part i made SPI flash programmer with SPI interface and some GPIO. so it should work for you too

    You could also use python (a lot cheaper if you're not working in a place where LabView is used), and toggle RTS/CTS and the other pair of which I forgot the naming image

     

    Stepping motor would be easiest, there are controllers that only need a "Step" and a "direction" pin. Take a look at some Arduino stepper shields, they're used on those.
