I have tried several different options..using one of the thinkpads.. i had lying around... i tried a rack mount... setup with an epia micro-atx board... i even bougt a little used acer L100 figuring it would do the trick.... each project idea/ attempt, ended in failure. Ie, the L100 had lan issues... the thinkpad .. obsolete i486 system...... the motherboard build the epia ,, had no cd rom capacity.....
I just cannot believe.. that a device such as a Playstation 3 is probably my cheapest option.. when you consider the hardware.. graphics.. and the software.?.. God forbid I try and compete graphically with the PS3 ..LOL
I am at my last resolve... i just purchased a really cheap blade server for $100 (ebay) and Windows Home Server 2011 for $50 newEgg .. Figuring this would be a bit of an overkill but it would easily handle my desire for Streaming_media _Bliss !!
Once again my efforts were a total failure....
Is there such a thing as a turn-key device that would network media .. similar to the ps3 ? yes I want it all remote access ... HD..... play-to...... nas access...... ???
Am I asking to much? I would love access my security system also.. but I am having a hell of a time with the media portion !!!
I would sincerely appreciate any input what so ever.... that any one could give.... On one last note.. My budget limits me to these doings.... thus..I would be willing to wait for a deal on EBAY.. for a particular.... shortcoming Vs.... just outright purchasing a $ XX,XXXX.00 device
