blacklist fulcrum??

Let's start of by saying I am a huge fan of cryptography back in the day with devices like  Enigma Machine. But then in a TV show called the Blacklist I saw something useful for our day and age.

Yes we get hardware encrypted hard drives  thumb drives and all the rest but nothing really elaborate enough.  Then I saw the so called Fulcrum it was like one of those moments... I can use something like that... image

 

After all, all of us have digital media that we would like to keep safe. Ranging from documents to your free energy blueprints... Is it possible to build something like that. I did a search on the net and yes the hardware "encryption chips" do exists but is it possible to build your own encrypted system that will involve a one of a kind physical reader and all the rest of it?

 

I don't know but I am looking for ways to make it happen.

 

what do you think is it possible to do a real system like that using only electronics like the Pi and so on???

    FPGAs are a good technology for implementing encryption algorithms.  Lots of the algorithms just scramble bits around, and FPGAs can do that far better than a general-purpose CPU.

     

    While there are lots of chips out there with AES coprocessors, they usually have export restrictions so they're hard to get outside the USA.  In addition, the documentation for the encyption unit may not be available without an NDA.

     

    For a fun read on cryptography, I suggest my avatar's book Eight Hundred Leagues on the Amazon, especially Part 2: "The Cryptogram".
