Identifying Capacitors

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

I have managed to break off 2 capacitors from a PC motherboard, I am happy to replace them if I can just track down where to get replacements from.

They are both 560 6.3v but the first line differs slightly E93P and E93G, I do not know what this refers to so I am a bit stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Simon,

These will probably work for you. I can not speak to the size since I have no reference on your picture but chances are they are the same. The First letters on the case are probably a date code or production run numbers and are not relevant to replacement.

    Thanks for the reply John.

Without some accurate callipers I would say they are 6.something mm diameter and 9mm tall.  I don't think they are SMD either?

    Hi Simon,

You  are correct these are Radial Leaded capacitors. Try this link to see if it is the correct one.

Can I ask the obvious and possibly stupid question, does the red labelling matter as these are blue?

These are some others that I have found

It is probably just a  choice of color used by the different manufacturer. Here is the data sheet on the manufacturer of the previous link. I looked it over and could find no reference to the color meaning anything. The important specs are the capacitance, 560 Uf, the voltage 6.3 VDC and if the physical size will fit your space allotment. There may also be a specification of tolerance in the nominal specs but this should not be critical in your application. In my opinion this replacement will work for you with no bad side effects.

    Hi Simon

These are most likely alu polymer caps from NCC Chemicon. They usually print their series on the first line. Though they are just printing the date code on these ones here.

Thanks to John jw0752 for mentioning our caps for alternatives. Highly appreciate it.

But I have to say that we do not have a 1:1 match for these.

However, you may try the 3 alternatives below. Farnell has them all available:

    870025174007 (standard series – 2000h)

870135174003 (high temperature series, to 125°C)

    870235174003 (long life – 5000h)

Like I said, these are no direct alternatives, as NCC has other dimensions.

    NCC - 6,3mm x 9mm

    Würth Elektronik - 8mm x 8mm

But maybe a look at our datasheets helps and you still find your caps! image

    datasheet  870025174007870025174007

    datasheet  870135174003870135174003

    datasheet  870235174003870235174003

Nevertheless, let us know how it worked out for you.

    Cheers

    Simon
