Premo has introduced a three-phase inductor with 99.6 per cent efficiency for use in inverter applications.
Inverters are used in: uninterruptible power supplies; frequency converters that convert the alternating current (AC) in direct current (DC), to modulate it afterwards in a variable frequency; and products used to generate alternating current from direct current sources, supplied by batteries or renewable energy sources.
Premo has developed the AIC series specifically for these applications.
The AIC Series is said to have 99.6 per cent efficiency due to a very low loss design.
Other features include: very good inductance stability vs temperature; high storage currents (up to 220A); high current density; single phase and three-phase formats; small size in comparison with other technologies; and a wide operating temperature range.
The devices measure from 320mm wide and up to 270mm high.
A high power density and high flux density in the core achieves 10 per cent higher efficiency compared to similar solutions in the market, according to Premo.
