How do I reduce Leakage levels using Cellergy Super Capacitors to maximise Battery life?
The very best way is to use a Cellergy Super Capacitor with nominal voltage which is higher than the battery nominal voltage (actually derating; for example use Super Capacitor rated as 4.2V for 3V application instead of using the 3.5V Super Capacitor).
A second way is to use a FET. A FET should be placed between the Super Capacitor and ground. The FET should close a circuit during Super Capacitor discharge and charge and open a circuit when the Super Capacitor is totally charged.FET switching is then implemented in the application where low leakage current is required. The Self discharge current of the Cellergy Super Capacitor (Super Capacitors leads at open circuit - FET is opened)) is lower than Leakage current.
