Poll: Do You Know The Scientists Who Developed Classical Electromagnetic Theory?

Classical electromagnetic theory explains how electromagnetic forces interact with charges and currents based on a Newtonian model.

Here's the poll question:

In 1820 _________ discovered that when an electric current flows in a conductor a magnetic field is produced. Less than a decade later,  ________ established the relationship between current and the magnetic field. In 1831, ________ discovered that a changing magnetic field causes current to flow in a closed electric circuit linked by a magnetic field. _________demonstrated that there is a relationship between a changing magnetic field and the induced current. ________ proved that magnetic poles cannot exist in isolation. In 1865, _______ unified electromagnetism theory in four equations that completely describe the behavior of electric and magnetic fields.

I've seen it spelled in two ways, just as you mention. Let me look into it and correct. Randall

This is a fun quiz But I believe that Ørsted, or Oersted using the English alphabet, is spelled incorrectly. I don’t think he received the mention the others did when I was in school.

A fun quiz, thank you, that wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Luckily not all permutations were present so I was able to narrow my selection down based on that and seem to have joined 70% of other…

I had to the same :-).  Same strategy as you for ruling out certain possible answers as well.
