anyone know a IC like the MAX1555 is an IC for charging lithium batteries

Yes,

Linear Technology makes simular devices

We have two families you should look at the LTC4075, LTC4076, LTC4077 or the LTC4096, LTC4097. Both are 2-input Lithium 1-cell chargers.
