Hi there,
Nowadays we as power designers have to make a choice: do we control our power converters analog or digital? Do we even have a choice? I can remember the task of controlling an AC induction motor (phase angle control) and there was no analog controller available on the market. They all had gone obsolete. I suspect this will be the case for more control products in the near future. The consequence is that traditional analog design engineers have to become more allround. They have a act a mixed signal engineers or even embedded design engineers to have the DSP's doing the control.
If we have to prepare ourselves for this task what is the best way to do it? What is a good way to start learning more about digital control and DSP? I like to build a high power DC/AC inverter (multiple kilowatts). Are there digital controlled reference designs available with open source C-code (and fast assembly)?
