Starter Question: Power supplys? I need help

Hi all,

I have recently started doing projects at home. I was inspired by Ben Heck who makes some amazing gaming system mods and other cool projects.

I am currently in the process of planning to make a portable PlayStation 1. I am not going to run it with a battery, i plan to use a power cord so the portable element will be that the console and screen are in a compact portable unit.

As iv'e said i'm very new to all this and have no idea how to start with the power supply. The PlayStation i have runs off 7.5v, the 8inch screen with controller board runs off 12v and the USB speakers run off of 5v.

I have no idea where to start! So what i need is some kind of power supply that will send the right amount of voltage to each part of my build. I am probably coming off very stupid to most of you but as iv'e said this is my first ever build and all the knowlegdge i have is from watching YouTube videos.

My main questions are:

Where can i get a power supply that will supply the right voltage to each part of my build?

What would be the best way to connect it all together?

What is this sort of power supply called?

How many volts will it be?

And how can i work out what sort of power supply i would need for future projects?

Thank you,

Reuben

so you need a 3 low power outputs power supply, right?

the best way is to make a flyback: small, cheap and easy to do...

please have a look at our reference design library
