How can we optimize Energy Harvesting systems with ultra-low-power management circuit? Maximum power point tracking (MPPT)? Active rectifier? Impedance matching?

Energy harvesting is a very fast growing research field and soon a market readily available solution for low power electronic devices like wireless sensor network, mobile gadgets, etc. These electronic devices, used in different application areas like military, human lifestyle, disaster management, etc., are highly lack of reliable energy sources, able to sustain their operational lifetime for a prolong period of time. Energy Harvesting (EH) is the key to the limited energy lock of batteries. However, how can we optimize these EH systems? By some ultra-low-power management circuitries like maximum power point tracking (MPPT), active rectifier, impedance matching, etc?

Hi! image  I have been working on various energy harvesting systems for the past 4 years. If you are interested or in need to solve any problem, please feel free to share and I might be of some help. Just pose your question here or even can send me an email at tanyenkheng@ieee.org.

    Dear All,

I am going to introduce a book titled "Sustainable Energy Harvesting Technologies: Past, Present and Future" very soon. If anyone wanna comtribute a chapter to my this book, please reply to me via here or write me an email, tanyenkheng@ieee.org. My intention is review the past energy harvesting research, compare present EH research with it and then formulate future possible research on this energy harvesting technology. I believe this will be very attractive to consumer, boimedical, etc. applications.

Please feel free to give your comments!

Very good initiative because there is clear need for tuning in on the enormous sea of ambient universal energy around us that could power our daily life needs.

It is just that Physics does not seem to have evolved enough with time...maybe hacking in an open source, crowd sourced fashion forward will accelerate understanding in Physics on academic level?

To take a quote from Feynman: Energy is a very subtle concept. It is very, very difficult to get right.

Tuning to resonance frequency in transformers can be an important factor in energy harvesting and preserving designs.

See for example this HV circuitry design for Geiger counters by "Radgoes":

Radiation in Goes, Zeeland (NL) - Geiger Counter: Very efficient HV inverter circuit for Geiger-Mueller Tubes
