12V 150Ah battery with LM2574

Hi all,

i have 12v 150Ah AGM battery and i need to 5v for my pic microprocessor .I'm thinking about to use LM2574 for this operation.i will connect it directly to battery.is it dangerous or not for this kind of powerful battery ?

The physical size of the battery determines how long it can hold a charge, and implies a lower Rth. The device you have selected is rated for up to 40Vin, so you are GTG.
However, TI doesn't seem to enthusiastic about using this part in new designs.

We always taught our kids that if they were thinking they should always put on their safety glasses if they were thinking maybe that they should. Thinking taking more effort than getting the G-d goggles! My son had a job working on those gigantic windmills they have nowadays. He dropped a wrench onto the battery bank. Said it vaporized immediately, coating everything like sunglasses. He was wearing his protection, and he recovered completely to find a safer job.

The Norwegians have a saying along the lines of 'There is no bad weather, only poor equipment.' Wear your safety stuff if you think you are doing something dangerous.
