I have to develop a battery powered device who works in -50°C enviroment.
Do you know battery or fuel cell who works at that temperature?

Hi Andrea,
-50 degrees C is a very extreme temperature and not conducive to normal battery chemistry. I did some looking and could not find a good answer for you. If you are a government you could perhaps use an atomic battery like those used in long life deep space probes. Another option would be to find some way to heat a conventional battery while it is being used or charged. This could be done with a chemical action like those used in hand warmers. If you can give me more information on the application you have for this battery and where you are going to find this extreme environment I might be able to help more. In case you want to research this question yourself you might see what technologies are being used in Antarctica or by NASA for outer Solar System probes. Some technologies like solar cells actually work better at low temperatures.
