Tier A • High-end PSU

Is it the best PSU ever? I don't know... You can decide that for yourself.

I do like the general layout and design to envelope. They made a great use of available volume with daughter cards everywhere!

The first EMI filter stage is nestled underneath the input IEC connector on a littler carrier card.

    CWT = Channel Well Technology - not a bad OEM.

    That being said, I've had more than a handful of dead PSUs ... but then again, I did probably handle hundreds of computers this lifetime. Some of them can be blamed on the early 2000's influx of cheap cases with integrated PSUs with counterfeit/bad capacitors and even branded PSUs with bad capacitors (I've repaired a number of Antec TruePower/SmartPower series PSUs of the era).

    Before then, it would normally be poorer-quality low-end PSUs from unknown OEMs that would fail, often rather explosively, sometimes due to a lack of proper protection when a mishap might have occurred during an upgrade (e.g. shorted output). Thankfully, I am yet to have a failure that took down equipment downstream.
