Worked as Nuclear Electrical Tech and later became a nuclear instructor at a nuclear generation station. Gave several Arc Flash courses over the years and enjoyed giving that type of training. Really opened…

Argh! Fell for some of the trick questions. Great stuff though. Worth learning. I still use the video from US NIOSH to teach arc flash protection. It's the personal story of three electricians who were…

I did the arc flash training some years ago, very happy that I work with a maximum of 48V.

There are two tricks with the question.

In the USA, NFPA 70 is the National Electrical Code, which is enforced by governments. NFPA 70E only covers workplace safety.

The second trick is an employer is responsible for compliance (of 70E.) Failure of the employer to enforce compliance of its employees could result in a fine.

I did fairly well on this since I used to work around industrial construction sites where lots of electrical work was going on.  I'd forgotten (or never knew) some of the colors though.  The concepts around LOTO and energy isolation are mostly the same whether mechanical, pressure, electrical, etc.

    1. A thorough and knowledge-challenging safety quiz and definitely not your average one
    2. A very well-balanced and successful attempt to encourage and build-up interest on a topic that has long been frequently overlooked by employers and employees alike
    3. Generally triggered genuine interest as a result of the rather high difficulty level of the quiz questions

Interesting but the questions are all USA oriented. Some of the "hardwired" safety things we have here in the UK are not aligned with the USA. For example, eye protection must be worn signs in the UK are always blue., but it turns out in the USA they are Yellow. Who knew!

So I marked the quiz down as the website knows for sure I am in the UK, and the answers I gave were indeed correct in the UK but failed the quiz - so I had to go look up the USA rules. Annoying and frustrating.
