Der SMPC (Smart Mosfet Power Controller) ist unsere Platine, die für das Power-Management im Auto zuständig ist. Sie besteht dieses Jahr aus zwei aufeinander gesteckten Platinen um Platz und Gewicht zu sparen (kleineres und leichteres Gehäuse).  Auf der unteren Platine sind die Leistungsbauteile, die Spannungsversorgung sowie die Eingangsschaltung untergebracht. Insgesamt stehen 6 Low-Power, 6 Mid-Power und 2 High-Power Highside Ausgänge und 4 Halbbrücken zur Verfügung. Jeder Ausgang ist einzeln PWM steuerbar und besitzt eine Temperatur sowie Stromüberwachung. Außerdem sind 2 analoge Spannungsausgänge vorhanden.

Die Eingänge können sowohl als digitale wie auch als analoge Eingänge verwendet werden und bieten die Möglichkeit Pull-Up sowie Pull-Down Widerstände zu schalten.  Der Messbereich kann beliebig gewählt werden. Die Steuerung der Platine übernimmt ein leistungsstarker 32-Bit Mikrocontroller, welcher auf der Aufsteckplatine untergebracht ist. Die Kommunikationsschnittstellen – 2x High-speed CAN, 2x RS232, LIN sowie USB - sind ebenfalls auf der Aufsteckplatine untergebracht.  Bei der Wahl der Bauteile wurde darauf geachtet, dass sie alle im Automotive Temperature Range spezifiziert sind, um ein sicheres Betriebsverhalten bei hohen Temperaturen zu gewährleisten.  Farnell unterstützte uns durch passive Komponenten sowie den Logikbausteinen wie dem Mikrocontroller.
