Protection and Management 2015 and Interop London Events - Photo and Video Tour

17 Jun 2015

Apparently this week was 'London Technology Week' (it is a trademark!) which seems a contrived week to be honest, although it is partly organized by London&Partners which is a registered company but appears to have some relationship to the Greater London Authority i.e. the Mayor of London.

Excel London hosted some events, in particular a technology show called Interop London. At the same time Excel hosted a 'Protection and Management 2015' show too, which included security (people, property and assets, and lots of video cameras), safety and fire prevention and detection products.

I briefly explored them today and yesterday, some photos are below (from a mobile phone - excuse the quality). The last day of the events is 18th June 2015.

image

IoT had a presence of course - including some building block kits for makers, this one is from 'samlabs' :

image

Also plenty of LTE routers for mobile or industrial applications:

image

RF monitoring for IoT:

image

Cisco's recently announced 'Halo' module was on display:

image

It has some unique technology (and a _lot_ of antennas as can be seen in the photo!) that can perform hyperlocation - tracking locations within one meter!

image

The demo here says it all - the guy in the video is carrying a mobile device with WiFi, and the blue spot on the floor tracks him within seconds, to an extreme accuracy - all with just one wireless access point and halo:

Here is the underside, showing the cable that connects the halo ring to the wireless access point:

image

The solution provides real-time tracking and analytics - the tiny dots on the display on the left are individuals walking around a shopping mall:

image

In the security space, 4K cameras were the big topic - and H.265. This was the IDIS stand:

H.265 highlights:

The Sony stand:

The benefit of Wide Dynamic Range for cameras:

image

There were even 'streets' of China, Taiwan and Korea manufacturers with a lot of interesting products to see:

image

This interesting solution packed digital video (up to 4k) onto existing coax that may have previously been used for analog cams in a building. It basically used broadcast (DVB) technology:

image

Another stand had some nice-looking (and bright!!) LED lighting, that can auto-dim to conserve power until a person walks past:

image

In the fire detection space, Siemens had a large presence at the show:

image

There were also companies with passive fire prevention products:

image

There were radio comms based fire detection systems, this one from Electro-Detectors:

image

A patient monitoring solution at the C-TEC stand:

image

Some bed or pillow sensor (I forgot):

image

In the industrial/automation space, FLIR had some specialist cameras:

image

image

Fujinon had a _massive_ (150mm dia lens!) pair of weatherproof binoculars - ideal for border patrols _and_ astronomy : )

image

image

In summary it was an interesting few days. Interop London is free to register and attend.

Hi Clem, Hehe that would be better for the feet : ) Maker Faire was accidental (I was just in the area) and this event was intentional.
