Originally donning an effigy of George W. Bush from 2007, the solar power chariot robot has shed its political statements at this year’s Maker Faire Bay Area (2011). Stanford neurology professor Bob Schneevis, created this robotic ride to mimic the movement of a human as it “rollerblades” around. A single 24V motor moves the entire apparatus, and solar panels attached over the chariot charges the batteries. Although robotic in nature, I find it hard to truly categorize the chariot as a robot.
Perhaps the chariot is the perfect use of the University of Michigan’s MABEL robotic legs?
