This next invention may reflect the laziness of the current consumer, but it is a testament to the diligence of Japanese inventor Modder FRP. He has used the Kinect camera in a simple creation that robotizes the trashcan.
FRP has created a moving trashcan that can detect flying garbage and move accordingly to catch it. This inventor did everything himself. This includes the AutoCAD design of the moving base and components, writing all of the necessary code and the PCB layout. FRP spent 400 hours building this moving receptacle.
A Kinect camera mounted to the wall, scans the entire room, predicts the trajectory of the flying trash and communicates wirelessly with the trashcan to position it accordingly.
The base includes 3 swivel wheels all controlled with servos that run on 4 AA batteries. During preliminary testing, FRP shows how he controlled the trashcan using a PS3 controller. He says his invention is not as accurate as the demo video implies and more work must be done to perfect it but this work will most likely be software adjustments. No word yet on when this speedy receptacle will be commercialized.
