There was a time where I recall engineering people I knew were actually worried about robots stealing their jobs. Later, to their dismay, they found their jobs outsourced to some other person in another country. Now working less technical job, these same people have robots to fear again. The Pi4_Workerbot can see in 3D, learn new techniques, has interchangeable tools, can carry items, and is never late for work.
What I find odd is the propensity to anthropomorphize robots. In this case, I can see that the goal was to replace factory workers with a robotic person. However, most robots are given a human like shape or functionality. Especially bots in "advanced" conceptual projects such as this one.
The Pi4_Workerbot will soon work tirelessly to build our various consumables. But don't worry about it lessening the workforce. Just keep in mind, before the automatic elevator there were millions of elevator operators employed around the world. All the operators found other places to be productive, if only to be elevator repair people. We just need to learn new, more advanced, skills.
Plus, I assume the Workerbot costs more that a person making minimum wage.
