  据美国物理学家组织网2月10日报道,新加坡A*STAR研究院高性能计算机研究所的科研人员尤里·阿基莫夫和魏诚美(音译)发现,通过沉积铝粒子的方法可以提高薄膜太阳能电池的光电转化效率,这种金属纳米粒子能防止光线的逃逸和反射,使更多的直射光直接进入太阳能电池。阿基莫夫说,该技术可以使我们进一步降低太阳能电池的生产成本,并增强太阳能电池的竞争力。  

  常规太阳能电池由于厚度较大,光线大多被吸收,沉淀的纳米粒子几乎没有起到任何作用。但对于较薄的薄膜太阳能电池,纳米粒子却发挥出了很大的作用,它们增加了光线在进入太阳能电池后的散射,增加了光线在薄膜中停留的时间,使薄膜太阳能电池的光电转化效率足以与传统的太阳能电池相媲美。

  研究人员模拟了多种不同类型以及尺寸的纳米材料,以测定其对太阳能电池吸光效率的影响,并决定从铝粒子和银粒子中确定最终“人选”,为此研究人员还专门对两者在太阳能电池中的性能进行了比较。

  一般而言,大多数人都会认为银粒子应被优先考虑。因为在光谱中的可见光范围内,它们具有较好的谐振性能,更容易将光线集中到太阳能电池之中。但实际情况却并非如此:虽然银粒子具有更强的光线捕获能力,但其本身也会吸收相当数量的光线,这将影响太阳能电池转化效率。而由于谐振波段超出了太阳光光谱,铝粒子就可避免这一情况的发生。此外,铝颗粒更容易被氧化处理,并且即使形状和大小不同,其性能都较为稳定。而且更重要的是,其散射特性比银粒子更为强劲。

  阿基莫夫说:“我们发现,铝合金制成的纳米颗粒与其他金属粒子相比,光捕获性能更强,更适合于薄膜太阳能电池。并且我们相信这一技术能帮助太阳能电池变得更轻更薄更高效,使其具备更大的商业价值。”
