Tankbot available, autonomous navigation

Tankbot is now available for your tinkering pleasure. Free apps for both Android and iOS allow for dual joystick control of the bots. Tankbot also has an autonomous mode that uses infrared sensors to navigate objects as well as a free-roaming mode.
 
Development on Tankbot and/or access to the platform seems to be locked out at the moment. Although a novelty for the office, I would like to see the bot used in an experimental way. The potential is high.
 
I assume, it is only a matter of time before access to the bot is opened up. In the mean time, one could be yours for $25 USD.

  • I like the concept, but it would mean I would have to buy a smartphone.

     

    I give them a couple of weeks before someone reverse engineers the protocol and or drive software.  Then it might be worth the money to buy one.

    A smartphone changed my life. My first one was a Palm Treo 300. It was a PDA and a phone. I never went back to regular phones.

    I use it for more than just phone calls. Navigation, checking things ont he internet, ordering takeout, etc. But not I am sounding like a salesman.

     

    Give it a try, may make your life easier. I recommend the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G Touch.

    They may make your life easier, I just have never felt it was a good idea to talk to people when "they" wanted to talk to me.  Plus, I am retired.  I like my quiet time and I can easily use either my laptop or desk top to find things if I need them.

     

    Still, I can see how they would be useful to people who need to do a lot of different things in many locations.  It would be essential to keep your schedule up to date and be aware of last minute changes.
