Low Cost Robotics for Boy Scout Robotics Merit Badge

emgrobotics
emgrobotics over 13 years ago

Over the summer I started a project to create the least expensive programmable robot for the Boy Scout

Robotics merit badge.

I started this quest on my website (www.buildsmartrobots.com) and it created a lot of interest.

Of course, the TI Launchpad is by far the least expensive development system available for the

hobbyist.  Code Composer Studio is very easy to use, and the launchpad is plug-n-play.

I was able to build a nice looking robot for less than $20.00

You can get complete instructions, along with the firmware from the

TI Launchpad projects website: http://e2e.ti.com/group/msp430launchpad/m/project/464307.aspx

I also provide instruction on how to build a upgraded version here:

    Hi emgrobotics,

Well done.  I have been learning about the features of Robotsee, but it looks like you have put together an excellent first project.  You give me the inspiration to spend more time learning the features of the software and now I have a good reason to implement my MSP430 to do something useful.

I appreciate your efforts, both for Robotsee and in your endeavour to encourage young people to get involved in technology more easily.

    Thanks,

    DAB

Looks nice. Does it only has line faloving sensors?

You can add some distance sensors to avoid hitting to objects like cat.
