Could i use raspberry pi to make the robot move and program the different movements?
It depends on how complicated your robot has to be, but yes you can. For simple ones, you can use raspberry pi's I/O to controle something directly, but for that I would advice you to use some bord to protect pi's I/O chanals, because they go directly from the arm procesor. And it is posable to fry pi's brain if you hot circuit irt ar give to high voltage. I would advice you to use some logocal brige ( or how is it caled) or a microcontroller to protect your pi. or you can extend the amount of i/O you have 
Pi is not the fastest small computer, but it can do much more then regular microcontroller.
