I am a world leading cake decorator in the uk, and I've been asked to make a VERY TOP SECRET cake for the 50th birthday celebrations for Doctor Who. I am making a full size Darlek cake and would like it to be on a board with a remote control unit so that it over like a Darlek too..... Can anyone offer advice ( or even help build this project ) .... I'm not yet sure how big it will be, nor how heavy... But I would estimate the icing along would weigh 25 kg !

Thank you in advance for your help folks! Dawn butler of dinkydoodle designs

    Hello,

This sounds like a fun project! Judging by your previous cakes, it will be a sight to behold.

You can pick up quite inexpensive golf trollies on eBay that you may be able to modify: http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/remote-control-electric-golf-trolley this will certainly make the mechanical bits easy to do. Load capacity is only about 40Kg though. I'm not sure whether it's the strength of the chassis or the power of the motors that is the limiting factor. May be worth making a call to a manufacturer.

For example these people are near me: http://www.gokart.co.uk/?lang=uk if you want to have a chat with them.

If the cake is hollow, there should be room inside for all the gubbins. One of my friends actually used to be inside a Dalek for the BBC on their roadshows. Perhaps he'd like to be inside a cake based one, he certainly wouldn't starve to death image.

    All the best,

    Alan
