It is true that most projects can be done by hand but once you start with volume projects you need someone or something to help. Now I have seen CNC build on the net and 3D printers and the like but a soldering robot seems to be very complicated or is it? It seems to use the same type of motion and a CNC system and looks a little like a 3D printer so I am guessing the software must the problem part or someone would have made a inexpensive kit form already. I guess... That said I have seen many robots being able to be learned what to do by moving it into the various positions and by doing so generate code that can be played back over and over again allowing the bot to repeat the function. This to me is more handy then trying to program it or get software because if it can simply learn what it need to do then there is no need for supper expensive software. Once done you can save the code and learn the bot to handle other types of movement and just store that. I mean normally if you need to do 30 or 50 circuit board that are perfectly the same why not just "show" the bot what to do? Once you need it do another board then just save the old code and learn the bot the new code?
Anyhow for the " The Ben Heck Show" why not try and build an inexpensive version of this type of bot? I mean YES all of us can use one LOL I mean really have you seen some of the chips you get now it is crazy small and is almost impossible to do by hand.
I added a picture that I found on the net just to give some idea of how these robots look like.
Thank you for reading.
