Many cars do it already, sampling sound and playing it back at the same amplitude, but inverted phase. The result; phase cancelling soundproofing. Even some personal headphones can do it. But, can a similar system suppress all the noise external to a house? How about a room to begin with?
Have anyone ever played with this idea, and what did you discover in the process? In a 3D environment, non-headphone in other words, what did you experience?
I feel that soon noisy neighbors, dogs, cats, and those insanely loud motorcycles at night will be an annoyance of the past.
