Linear regulated PSU manufacurers?

Hi everyone,

 

I hope somebody on here can help me find a UK manufacturer of linear regulated PSU's. I have searched the internet and can only find switch mode PSU's.

The specifications of the PSU's I am after is a;

230Vac input and 30Vdc, 10A output

230Vac input and 48Vdc, 15A output

I do not expect anyone to find me part numbers for these specific units but if anyone knows of a UK manufacturer of linear regulated PSU that would be a great help.

So far I have tried XP power, Meanwell direct and Blore bowron who are all really helpful, but only supply switch mode PSU for the values I am after.

    For the power levels you need, a switched mode power supply is the best solution.
    Active (switching) power factor correctors followed by a switching power supply are available from many suppliers.
     
    Why do you want a linear power supply?
     
    To achieve a good power factor, you need power factor correction.
    Passive power factor correctors are special devices. Passive power factor correctors are big. Passive power factor correctors cause a large variation in output Voltage between no load and full load. This means you probably need the use of pass transistors rated for 120 Volt or higher. This also means a real danger for the load, if one of the pass transistors fails.
    The linear power supply you want must have a good overvoltage protection, capable to discharge the big filter capacitor.
     
    Do you still want a linear power supply?
     
    You could build one yourselves or ask a manufacturer to make a special product.

    Hi J. Van Den Berg,

     

    Thank you for your response. For what I am powering it is the manufacurers instructions to use linear regulated PSU as they claim that the noise produced from a switch mode can cause interferance and will loose some of its performance. Although finding the PSU is proving a challenge I would prefer to follow the manufacturers instructions to ensure I get the best possible performance (and cover my own back side if thinks go wrong).

    I think buliding my own may be the best idea.
