Hi,
a newbie question - but I am interested in a product to do a simple function - monitor current in an AC circuit, and if it goes above a certain value, throw a relay. I see a few DIN-rail units - undercurrent and overcurrent reverse current relays that keep a window and allow for a time delay and hysterisis functions to open and close a relay. But I'm interested in current flow direction in an AC circuit.
My question is - this AC circuit has current flow in potentially two directions, so the absolute value in Amps alone is not enough to make the decision to open/close the relay. What product or combination of products could reliably detect current flow in one direction of an AC circuit, and throw the relay when the value exceeds a threshold. What might make it easy in my case is that the value is anything above 0 Amps in the outward direction.
Thanks, John
