Hi!

I'm interested  in finding test equipment for motor driver repair.  I searched the web but found nothing. Can anyone help me with this situation? I have a motor driver repair request foar a long term but i cannot find test equipment, to be shure that the work on the motor driver is 100% ok and i can give a warranty for the repair of it.

Thank you!

I'm not very impressed by your approach. You're cross because I've told you that your business plan is unlikely succeed but I also gave you some advice which you seem to be determined to ignore. So let…

Hi Stanulet, Welcome to E-14. You have just inspired a nice lively discussion. I agree with you that a misunderstanding is at the heart of it. We are often asked questions without knowing anything about…

What sort of motor drive and what sort of tests ? The range of power ratings and possible tests is so huge that you need to narrow things down a bit. Testing even modest ( a few kW) motor drives at full…

I don't repair stepper motor drivers any more, but do repair electronic motor drives, have done so in my own business for over 25 years, and before that did it for 10 at another company. We do millions of dollars a year in this business worldwide.  First of all..   if the original manufacturers were any good, people like us wouldn't exist, but by and large, they are terrible at service. There are many 3rd party repair companies all over the US that are very successful. Don't let anyone back you down on that.

It does require investment.. and what may surprise you, is that the test hardware is the least of it..  you have to be good, in fact, excellent at it. So, you have to learn.     But, I encourage you to go for it..   You will have to do it for a cost less than 50% of what a new one costs, and you'll have to do it efficiently enough that you can make a profit at that cost. That's the only part of your business plan that I would caution you about.   You have to be able to do this at a profit, within a price range that the market will set, and offer quicker turnarounds than your competitors.

Good luck.. I hope you're a great success. (by the way..  although we got out of the stepper motor and drive business some years ago, back when we were doing it..  testing wasn't that difficult or expensive.)
