I've been waiting to see ASIMO used in the field. I guess it is still way too expensive if an ASIMO gets damaged.
A very impressive display of robot dexterity and independent self adjustment capability.
I can see this robot platform becoming an extremely valuable component for a telepresence operation in just about every hazardous operation. Mining, hazardous waste, fire fighting, you name it, this robot could be equipped to handle the dangerous aspects of the job, plus provide visual feedback to the operators so that they can make realtime adjustments.
If they could produce these machines at a reasonable cost, I can see a large number of applications just waiting for this robot to fill.
