I know of the existence of robot from when I start reading SF years and years ago. One of my favourites was "I, robot" and the robot saga of Asimov. So in the - limited - choice of the suggested list there was the Metropolis robot, I am a fan (I have used the special effects of Metropolis in the introductory chapter of one of my books some years ago), but the most representative is Terminator, the T1000 model as I am a fan of P.K. *** and Terminator is the revolutionary example of the autonomy of the machines. If listed, other great ideas of robots were be the synthetic child of A.I. (the film) and the -better than terminator maybe - the android in "Blade Runner" (Do androids dream of electrical sheeps ? Maybe the original P.K.*** title of the novel); a great character with great interpretation by Rutger Hauer. Third but not last, the android hero in Alien image

Wasn't Asimov one of the first, if not THE first, to write SF involving robots?

He has a fairly long list of robots in his Foundation series, and I would imagine also in his Robots series (which I haven't read yet).

I say we add R. Daneel Olivaw from the Foundation series and the Robot series to the list - a robot perfectly disguised as a regular human who guides and protects humanity over centuries image
