Looking for some help for a VR project :)

Former Member over 11 years ago

Hey guys, my names Elvin, and I've been working on a VR project for the last 3/4 years.

I really need some help though, with hardware and software......

In exchange, I will offer you a place in my company in the future; a guaranteed spot.

Theres some hurdles we need to cross, but I think we'll be fine..... If theres one thing I know

how to do, its being crazy, dedicated and creative....

Anyways....

I need a hardware specialist who understands that they can't talk about my project to others.... thats a requirement.....I need them to put together several small

boards, with around 4 pieces in it... I will tell you the parts, once you've agreed to my conditions. I'll buy the parts. Knowledge of smartphone screens and

components, batterys, and the general coding that goes with it is a requirement..... I need you to find parts with the lowest possible power output... as I want

the battery to last several hours (8 in general), and it needs to be thin as well.... around a 2"l x 1.5"w x .5" high. The Samsung Galaxy s5/Iphone 5s is our battery

source. From what I hear, its battery life is around 6 hours after heavy use. The other parts, I will tell you about in a PM, if you're interested......

That being said, we need to sell our product to the masses, and if its too pricey, they wont buy, so.... yeah.... The price tag is 400$. Dont worry, this number is when

we actually sell it to the consumer. the  prototype will probably be more expensive, but thats just how it goes..... so its going to be mine and your job to keep the costs

down.

Also, I need a coder who has knowledge on Java (or unityscript for unity), or any other programming language found in 3d rendering programs.... as long as you can

upload scripts into it for our parts (I know you can to a degree with the Rift and other HMD's on Unity) so you'll have to create scripts if need be...

We're also going to be creating our own characters and animations, animations being the important word in that sentence and worlds (later on....) for now we just

need the basics.... Put the model together, and have it move freely in Unity. Again, once you've agreed to the conditions that you wont reveal any information

to anyone else, then we'll talk about what you need to code specifically.....(5 year NDA lol....) just have the ability to code for the hardware..... some of that information

is already out there on the net, you're just going to have to figure out HOW to implement it, I'll help how I can, but It'll be your job to do it. Like I said before, I don't have much now in

the form of payment, I would definitely like to start my own Kickstarter, so if that goes well, we can pay you guys from there but for now..... all I can promise is a place

in my company.... but I'm not going to forget you. Besides, your work is the backbone of the company, so the fear of me leaving you or forgetting you is kinda impossible.

Sue me if you have to lol..... If I did forget you, I probably would have deserved it anyways XD that being said.... all of our conversations or most anyways, will take place

on the internet or skype or facebook or what have you, so everything will be logged, so dont worry about me "stealing" your ideas or inspiration or w/e. I do my best however I can,

dont expect me to be perfect though ok?

The name of the project is : "Nexus" it stands for the star gates in space that allow you to travel from one part of the universe to the other. The foundation of the project was built on

the belief that with the nexus, you'd be able to jump from world to world in a park space (and I'm even trying to put it in the city, as thats the next logical step). Imagine youre inside a hotel

that has 8 different Open gates at opposite ends of the building. Each gate leads to another world that you'd be able to play in. For now, we're starting with 12 people running around the same time in one area, later I plan on having as many as 50. In one Gate, you can play a super mario first person or third person game (depending on your camera preference) where you run around stomping, jumping, running, even flying and spinning around the many obstacle and open world courses available to you on that path. so yes, we might have to build our own theme park to do this, BUT IMAGINE HOW SICK THAT WOULD BE!!!!!! on the more mature side of things, at the other gate, we have the assassin creed experience; you jump across buildings, run through towns, escape from the law, you wont actually kill anyone (as that could be dangerous and would piss off a lot of people, and yes, we have countermeasures for "guns" and "swords". Don't worry. It's a bit tricky to do, but once we build this machine, I know of a way to permanently forbid anyone from pointing a controller at a player and pulling the trigger too many times. If they do, a warning goes off to the HMD, which LOCKS that controller from being used on the headset for 2+ hours. If the instance happens twice repeatedly (and after the warning message appears on your screen not to harm other players or point your controller at him and pull the controllers trigger) maybe in the same hour, then the Headset itself locks for a week (or something equally punishing, like 3 months).

I have strayed from what I was saying! lol..... anyways,.... in theory, and you'd be able to do this at home too, you yourself WOULD be the character. You can look down at your hands (no, there is no hand tracking, unless you wear gloves) you can bend your elbows, duck, roll, summon Aeons, shoot magic out of your hands, use swords, staves, axes, whatever the game requires of you. At home you'd be able to build your own world inside of your house. so if you wanted to make your house look like Tinkerbells Hollow, or the slums of Batman Arkham City (no, we're not talking about the quality of the game lol, just using it as an example) you'd be able to..... but like I said, in theory.... some changes are going to have to go into the coding of the assets in those games to be able to do what we need it to do. Anyways, right now I'm focused on making games not so much about guns and zombies and what not, but about flowers and fairys and objects that you could interact with in a decent way, positive and fun way.the flower/fairy for example you can grow and raise to produce certain items for you. Items you can exchange in the game store for points, so that you can buy a whole mess of things. EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED lol..... other things, like 60's characters that have the ability to warp the colors around them to black and white are all possibles lol..... was just thinking what someone from that age might be interested in. or how about little lightning bolts coming out of your head, while head banging or singing......also possibilities.....

So, yes, as you could have guessed, we are going to produce (or buy from the stores) a bunch of assets, modify them, and then sell them on the stores for .99c, 4.99, or 24.99 or what have you. the more cool things we provide, the bigger our audience, so work your butt off! you'll keep most profits from your sales, minus a cut for our services. For those working on the Nexus and producing characters and backgrounds and animations and special effects, I SERIOUSLY believe you would deserve millions..... but thats just me..... we gotta talk about it, see the sales, and distribute funds accordingly... to me, the work youre going to be doing is super important so.... you'll get paid more working for me. But like I said, it all depends on the sales. So I need character modelers who can make (even now in the beginning) simple models, with free flowing limbs, different sizes (for different player body types), you have to do some very specific animations for me, once again once you've agreed to my conditions that you WONT reveal any of my information to other parties, then we can talk about what you need to do..... but make the models, backgrounds, monsters, environments, everything you expect in a game is what I need....

essentially, everywhere you'd be able to look, you'd see a part of the game. look up, and see a night sky, look to your left and theres that fairies plant you've been feeding to grow a mystic dew drop that you're either going to equip to give you a new summon or a new magic ability, or sell it for 25,000 PP (or whatever its worth)... these items are rare, and as equips, are beastly, but theyre harder to produce. Of course, the harder it is to produce, the greater the pay off.... Oh, by the way, there might be like 500+(?) free assets to the public every 3 months (or something good). Since we've essentially cut off everyone from uploading their own models or getting them for free from online sites, Im going to make it so that they can download free good looking ps3/4 models. Remember when you didnt have any money and you really wanted that one video game/ anything really? yeah, well, not everyone can afford these models, I hope they do what they can, but most of our money comes from those who can afford it, and I hope later, when those who didnt have any money, make some money, they remember to buy the pricier models and video game packs =P. I'm not changing this, so dont even bother asking.

That being said, please PM me with, your qualifications, give me a description of who you are and your work, your background with video games, hardware, software, 3d programs, scripting,

if you reside in New York City (we could meet up, I can tell you about the project, when it comes to the hardware I can show it to you), martial arts, computer science or etc.

Thanks a bunch, and if you have any negative comments, keep it to yourself please.
