Overloading one axis of an ADXL335 Acceleromter

Does anyone have any experience with overloading one axis of an ADXL335 accelerometer? In the case of say a model rocketflight where one axis would be expected to see 60+ G's in load would the output of the output of the outher two axis be totally shot? I would also note that (hopefully,hehe) the other 2 axis should be well within the +/-3G limit on the chip. I could use something like a Memsic 2125 but I would have to orient it perpindicular to the main board and would like to avoid that huge pain in the you know what.

 

Anyhelp is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Like it says in the data sheet... "functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions above those indicated in the operational section of this specification is not implied." So you really won't know how the other axis will behave untill you try it out. But that's what testing and troubleshooting is all about.
