Smart glasses are the 'next big thing' that's supposed to make our lives easier. One thing it can't do is improve our poor poster, until now. We love our gadgets, but it's actually proving to be harmful. There's a new spinal condition called “tech neck” or “gameboy disease,” which is caused from slouching over phones and computers constantly. Teens and young adults are at the highest risk for these new conditions considering how long they spend on these devices. How can we make sure these spinal conditions don't spread? Dr. Vahid Sahiholnasab has developed a new wearable device called EyeForcer.
How does it make sure your kids keep good posture? By limiting their time on smart devices. Similar to Google Glass, EyeFrocer uses a Bluetooth radio, accelerometer and battery. It then connects to an app for Android devices that can detect when the user is slouching. Do it five times and a small warning appears on the app of video the user is watching. Keep slouching and the app tells you the device will shut down. And don't try to outwit the system by putting it on a table or solid surface; Sahiholnasab claims built-in algorithms can tell when the device is being worn and not.
Sounds like a great product to not only improve your kid's posture, but your own as well. Unfortunately, the device is not ready to pick up in stores yet. The firm, Medical Wearable Solutions, hopes to find a partner to buy the system and sell it to retailers. When it does get a release, it should be a hit with gadget lovers everywhere.
