RFBee Troubleshooting

Hi,

I have recently been trying to get started on a wireless project using two RFBees I bought years ago... And now I understand why I gave up the first time. All of the information on how to do anything, including uploading the firmware, is completely outdated. I cannot do a single thing with my RFBees because I uploaded a sketch of my own. It shouldn't be this hard to just communicate wirelessly, should it? Can someone please help me at least find a reliable guide on how to upload firmware with Arduino 1.6.4?!

I don't believe that it is unique to 1.6.4. I think there have always been problems with the firmware. I've looked up fixes for it, but there seems to be nothing more recent than two years ago. I think the problem is the same, but reactions are different. When I try it in Arduino 1.0.4, it just gets stuck at 20% compiling. 1.6.4 actually prints an error for it, but that doesn't help much. I didn't try any other versions, because the fix I found that worked was in 1.0.4.

Does the problem start with 1.6.4 or does older ones have issue as well?

I do have an explorer, though. I am not having any trouble uploading any other sketch to the RFBee, except for the firmware. But first, the only reason why I uploaded a new sketch to the RFBee is because I couldn't make the Arduino communicate with it. There is a surprising lack in step-by-step instructions on how to transmit serial data. I have found a ton of articles on how it is soooo easy to get started, but this is exactly the opposite of what I've found. Step 1 for me, though, is fixing the firmware in Arduino 1.6.4 so it actually compiles and uploads to the RFBee, so I can get back to the mere problem of connecting it. If anyone can help me find something on that, it would be extremely helpful.

Is this some of your troubles? Programming "RFBEE" I can say that without a RF explorer to program you cards, you will be doing things the hard way. See http://www.seeedstudio.com/wiki/index.php?title=RFbee_V1.1_-_Wireless_Arduino_compatible_node
