Tzero unveils ZeroWire 2.0
An ultra wideband silicon manufacturer has unveiled plans to demonstrate a commercially viable product that is capable of delivering a 60-frame/second HDTV signal.
Tzero Technologies will exhibit its ZeroWire 2.0 product at a developer's conference in Japan, as the firm attempts to install itself as an emerging provider of wireless multimedia content.
The new product is supported by the company's TZC7200 ultra wideband chipset, which maintains wireless HDMI connections when further than 20 metres away and also incorporates an H.264 video CODEC.
Rajeev Krishnamoorthy, chief executive of Tzero Technologies, believes that UWB-enabled wireless will be a "critical technology" for the "consumer technology industry in 2009".
He said: "Tzero is capitalizing on the unique properties of Ultra Wideband technology including its high bandwidth, extreme signal reliability, low power consumption, and immunity to interference from other wireless devices."
Earlier this week, Sierra Wireless purchased Wavecom for €218 million, in an attempt to reassert itself in the wireless data transfer market.
