Designed for wireless communications applications such as femtocell and picocell base stations, Analog Devices’ new 12-bit AD9963 and 10-bit AD9961 mixed-signal front-ends (MxFEs) are said to use 40% less power (consuming 425 mW at maximum samples rates) and 25% less PCB area than competing devices, but without sacrificing performance.
Both devices are pin compatible and integrate two analog to digital converter (ADC) channels with sample rates to 100Msamples/s and two digital to analog converter (DAC) channels with sample rates to 170MSamples/s. ADI says the new MxFEs enable up to 10dB better adjacent channel leakage ratio performance than competing devices.
AD9963 and -61 are both housed in 72-lead LFCSP packages and support full- and half-duplex data interfaces.
