移动设备要突破电源限制,通常的做法是采用更重的电池。燃料电池和超级电容等新技术为我们提供了一种新选择。

 

为了最有效地发挥作用,优化系统性能的关键是设计组件的大小。燃料电池是提供持续的平均功率输出的良好选择,而超大电容则更适合于提供峰值功率。像 Maxwell公司BOOSTCAP这类超级电容产品可提供十倍于电池的功率和使用寿命,并且重量更轻。除此之外,超级电容在极低和极高的温度下也能稳定工作。

 

某移动工业伺服系统提供了使用超级电容和燃料电池代替电池组和非自载电源供电的实例。该系统采用的是一种小型的低价位燃料电池,此外,超级电容比燃料电池更适于提供峰值功率。在具体应用中,一个3.5A,电压150V的直流燃料电池为系统持续提供电2A的电流,另外提供1.5A的电流为超级电容充电。根据要求该超级电容必须提供持续500毫秒的30A电流,电压下降不能超过25V。为了确定所需的电容的个数,可以用设备电压(150V)除以每个超级电容单元的电压(2.5V),得到60,这表明设备需要60个该单元。若电容组的电容总计为3

 

50F,可以计算出的单个电容是350F/60个=5.8F/个。该电容组的电压下降将是500毫秒×30A/5.8F = 2.6V;由已知的单元电容的ESR,就可以得到阻抗压降的计算公式如下:30A×0.0032 (每个单元的电阻值)×60个单元=5.76V,将两者加起来(2.6V+5.76V=8.36V),最终30A电流在500毫秒内的总压降为 8.36V。这个数值远低于25V的要求。因此,如需优化配置,可以选择低一点的电容,这样可以减少浪费降低成本。

 

60个超级电容的总重为3.6千克,为了满足该设备的峰值载荷要求,如果只使用燃料电池的话,电池的体积将很大,并且价格也太过昂贵。采用超级电容和燃料电池配合使用的方法,跟以前单纯使用电池的方案相比,运转时间更长,更可靠,而且超级电容包的重量和体积比电池组小得多。
