Admit it, drones are fun and you’ve always wanted one but couldn’t make your own. The aspect of ‘remote viewing’ has always been on your mind and you’ve been planning covert spy missions for months now in the hopes that some company out there would make a user friendly outdoor/indoor UAV. Well now the wait is over, at least for owners of the iPhone. Parrot, a company known for its Bluetooth wireless devices, has designed a drone that you can control via your iPhone. Te drone is actually a quadricopter that has its own WI-FI system just in case your phones connection isn’t up to par and two cameras situated on the front and bottom of the body to help you navigate either indoors or outside. The ARDrone comes with a full multi-rotor shield to protect the drone just in case your piloting skills need some improvement. The UAV does indeed have some drawbacks though with the first being the price. It costs $299.99 which for most people is a little on the expensive side. The next issue that it has is poor battery performance; it only has a 15 min charge however you can buy additional batteries at a cost of $29.99. And lastly you can only control the unit with an app that only Apple products can use which include the iPod and iPad but the company does have plans for a future release to other vendors such as Android. For my $300 bucks they need to refine the power problem because fifteen minutes isn’t enough for my covert spy missions.
