More and more people are dabbing with Microsoft Kinect to do everything from enhancing robots to creating art. Now Emily Gobeille and Theo Watson, the same duo who brought you ‘Funky Forest’, have hacked the Kinect to create a new kind of shadow puppet. Using Kinect in conjunction with a laptop to track their elbow, wrist, and fingertips they were able to create a unique new form of shadow puppetry. Taking advantage of the openFramework system that uses libfreenect Kinect drivers and ofxKinect they were able to accomplish this feat in about a day. So long sock puppets you have been replaced! I love what's going on with this product. I look forward to what's next. And I would love to modify and tinker with mine, but if I do, I may have no more Kinect at all.
Anyone working with Kinect out there?
