How to load firmware onto Discover Wi-Fi module

Hello,

We have recently purchased SN8200 EVK+ kit and discover Wi-Fi module(http://in.element14.com/stmicroelectronics/stm32f4dis-wifi/add-on-board-discover-wifi-stm32f4/dp/2314509). I want to know that how to load a .bin file to discover wi-fi module. I have installed ST-Link utility tool and its drivers but don't detect discover wi-fi module. I can easily load a firmware on SN8200 EVK+ kit but don't have luck to load a firmware onto discover wi-fi module. How to load firmware onto discover wi-fi module?

Any help in this case is appreciated.

Thanks,

Nipam

That discovery board doesn't have an ST MCU in it. It has the same sn8200 brodcom WiFi chip set in it as the. You can use the tools you used on the sn8200evk"SN8000 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n" its meant as an add on for the stm32f4* which you can communicate using UART or SPI. Although I believe you can use it stand alone.

    Hope this helps

    Hello Salinas,

    Thanks for your reply.

SN8000 has STM32Fx on board, so it may be used to download a firmware into another duaghter card (like wifi discovery board). But SN8200 EVK+ kit don't have STM32Fx on it. EVK+ kit is used FT232 to download firmware into SN8200 module available with EVK+ kit. I used wiced IDE to download a firmware into SN8200 EVK+ kit.  Can you please elaborate that how I can download firmware into Wi-Fi discover board through SN8200 EVK+ kit?

    Thanks,

    Nipam

The WiFi discovery does not have SMT32f* in it, it's only a WiFi daughter board with the an sn8200 brodcom chip set. ST made it as an add on for SMT32f4* discoverys. You can use WICED on the ST WiFi with a UART/serial or spi connection. Ex, connect an ftdi232 break out board or the discovery board its made for STM32F4*, then you shouldn't have a problem programming it.

    Hello Salinas,

    Thanks for your quick response.

As per your suggestion, I connect ftdi232 break out board with discovery wi-fi board but don't get success to download a firmware on it. Am I doing correct or not?

    Thanks,

    Nipam
