Why doesn't it undergo interference?

There are so many people in America who are using mobile phones that work on the same GSM-850 frequency band..............so my question is .......... that if two people are calling two other different people, from a same location,.................their mobile phones would try to connect to the nearest mobile station by sending a signal from the phone................... why don't the two signals undergo interference due to which the the detection of both the signals should become difficult or both the signals distort each other .......... but it doesn't happen .....why ?


Please make sure that by interference I mean the physics phenomenon of interference!!

    Hi Rishi,

     

    The protocol between your phone and the cell tower establishes a frequency band for each phone trying to use it.

    So in a local area, two phones contacting the same tower at the same time will be allocated different frequencies for the transaction.

     

    So there can not be any interference because the of carefully established frequency bands allocated for each tower.

     

    It really is just that simple, and the technique used was very robust so it has been effective.

    The only problem occurs when you have more phones contacting the tower than it has bands to allocate.

    That results in a denial of service until a frequency is freed up by someone ending a call.
