As widgets and apps become more and more prevalent on our Smartphones, the processing power seems to decrease under load. Two processor cores would really help with this problem of ‘slowdown’ and LG is stepping up to the plate with the upcoming release of its Optimus 2X series Smartphone. The phone uses an Nvidia Tegra 2 1 GHz dual-core processor that is clearly enough power to run apps for at least 2 months before companies roll out even more complex and power hungry programs. The Optimus 2X also sports a 4 inch WVGA screen, 8GB of memory that’s upgradable to 32GB with a micro SD card, a 1,500 mAh battery, 2 cameras (8 megapixel in the rear and 1.3 megapixel in the front), HDMI mirroring and is capable of 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and recording. The phone will be available early next year in Asia and Europe and will ship with Android version 2.2 but will be updated to 2.3 upon the software’s release. There is no word on when the phone will be available to the rest of the world as of yet but I would assume it will be after its initial release to both Europe and Asia’s. Pricing is unavailable as well.
