Convert game controller from wired to wireless

I'm trying to convert my old Xbox wired controller to wireless. I'm not sure what id need to do this, as I'm a noob. I know id need a receiver and a transmitter, one in the controller and the receiver connected to the Xbox controller port. The Xbox controller port are literally USB 1.1, even colour coded the same. Would I need a transceiver as the controller also has rumble motors? I know I can get a battery and I can get a charge circuit and fit them inside the controller for power. The xbox controller port can be used to power the receiver/transceiver. Could I get away with just a 433mhz microcontroller? Any help would be great, or if this is even possible/

  • Both Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers use a proprietary 2.4 GHz protocol. If there was any specification broadly (or after paying a licence) available, there would be after-market controllers available - which is not the case.

    So unless you want to reverse engineer it (or crack the encryption, if any), it is not worth it.
